ScaleDesign High-end pianos use low-tension scale design. A dense rim allows less tension & longer sustain. Soundboard Most Modern Pianos use rib crowned sound boards. Another way is to use atmospheric pressure to produce the crown.
The Ribs The ribs of the soundboard are perpendicular to the grain of the wood. They help keep the shape concave, not flat.
The Plate The plate holds over 20 tons of string tension. There are three types of plates;
v-pro, sandcase & CNC Water jet cut steel plate. The Action
